I received prompt and exemplary care from Scott Wenk, DDS, MD, and his staff at Suncoast Oral Surgery Specialists in Sarasota while visiting Venice, Florida in early May 2026. He provided emergency treatment for an abscess which involved facial swelling, expanding infection, and potential loss of a tooth. Dr. Wenk’s prompt intervention and follow-up to treat the abscess, plus an antibiotic prescribed by my regular (out-of-state) dentist successfully stabilized the condition. Follow-up endodontic treatment when I returned home preserved the tooth and the infection resolved. I was incredibly fortunate to be referred to Dr. Wenk by the Comfortable Care Dental Clinic in Venice, where I was graciously seen on an emergency basis as a walk-in patient. I’m extremely grateful to Dr. Wenk and his colleagues for such expert, timely, and coordinated dental care!

Not a review of the practice, but the dentist. I work at a hospital as a unit coordinator and was asked to call in a consult request for Scott Wenk. The note said to "Call provider business" followed by a number (I work night shift and never call late if the note says "Call provider cell"). So I called thinking I would get an answering service like every other doctor and dentist in the area. Instead it turned out it was Wenk's cell phone, and he was pissed off at being called at midnight. He was rude to me and kept saying "listen to me" even though I wasn't interrupting or cutting him off. He falsely claimed that the ER had put in a note to indicate not to call him; no such note was on the computer. The guy needs to learn how communication works. If you don't want to be called, 1. don't give out your cell phone number (or at least make sure it's labeled as cell and not business), 2. use an answering service like everyone else, and 3. stop being rude to low-level employees just trying to do their jobs.
